Atmosphère pop up Festival

Atmosphère is a pop-up festival initiated by mari.ama

music – exhibition – rally in solidarity with displaced people worldwide that combines art and protest to draw attention to conflicts that are currently leading to the largest refugee flows and humanitarian crises worldwide.

The exhibition, curated by mari.ama and Kechou, featured artists who either experienced displacement personally or whose heritage connects to countries facing the world’s most significant refugee movements and humanitarian crises.

Artworks represented regions including Afghanistan, Syria, Venezuela, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Palestine, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Yemen. Exhibition texts provided context for current political decisions regarding the war in Ukraine and examined social and media discourse about refugee acceptance based on country of origin.

The fusion of art and activism aimed primarily to create an open space for discussion about these topics and to foster awareness of the equal value of all human lives affected by war and humanitarian crises.

The rally alongside the exhibition also invited speakers representing Seawatch crew and CUSBU (communities support for BIPoC Refugees) to encourage visitors to share this awareness and information, and to support organizations advocating for refugee rights worldwide.

Music by Liaam Iman, fem*ergy collective and Sonic Interventions.

Compagnie du Hanneton

“Thierrée was raised in a circus; Charlie Chaplin was his grandfather and the American playwright Eugene O’Neill was his great-grandfather. All of those influences are apparent in a piece that doesn’t give a damn whether it’s theatre, dance, circus, slapstick or a beguiling mix of all of them.”
